Where are you registered?
This has been a common question from people when they find out that we are getting married. I love the question and that people want to shower us with gifts. It makes me feel important and like it’s my birthday.
We'd been dragging our feet about registering. I know for some of you that is a relief and for others a reason to pull your hair out.
Well I finally realized why it was taking me so long and why in the world would I not give you people a way to memorialize this event by giving me a trinket. Hmmm, probably because even though I love each and every one of you, I'd curse your name as I had to pack up all these wonderful trinkets and awkwardly and precariously; emphasis on the latter, pack them into our storage shed.
See due to the decision to, turn our lives upside down, and send me to nursing school we were forced to make some changes. I moved down to Del Norte, away from my family, to go to school. Lydia worked extra shifts to keep up on the bills and support my lavish lifestyle. We continued this path for many many months.
When a smarter option popped into one of those floating comment boxes above our head saying rent your home, we did just that. In march we, or should I say Lydia, packed up our lives into little boxes and managed to get our life as we know it into a very very small storage shed. I then took the dogs and cats down with me to school and Lydia became a renter of a room with some friends. Nothing like feeling like your back in college, renting a room, doing laundry at a laundry mat, maintaining a long distance relationship-----oh wait I am back in college.
With our lives in boxes we realized we don’t want to do the normal wedding registry. No china, wine glasses, toasters, wine coolers and picnic baskets for us! Lydia made me say that – I’d take the wine glasses, giggles. Instead we are asking that you support our travels this summer and beyond. We know we will be in this same situation, boxes and storage sheds, for about 5 more years with our current trajectory.
If you’d like to give a wedding gift please either click on the tab at the top of this blog listed as Our Registry or go to www.madgeandlydia.zankyou.com (Nicole thanks for sending me that direction – it saved me so much time given the direction I was headed).
I look forward to seeing all the trinkets; I mean tokens of love, pile up as we expand our summer plans.
